We are often asked about worms and worm treatment. As a profession, vets are responsible not only for the health of your pets but also for general public health as it relates to pets and livestock of all kinds.

It is probably true that the majority of pets are not habouring a worm burden that impacts seriously upon their own health. They may however still act as a source of infection for their human owners. One roundworm, Toxocara, which is carried by dogs and cats, can cause blindness and serious intestinal damage in human beings. For that reason we recommend that cats and dogs are given worm treatment every 3 months.

There are several different ways to provide good worm treatment for your pet: please give us a call, or come to see us to discuss the method that best suits your lifestyle and individual requirements.
